Milly Blanco - Educator and Community Leader

A Career Devoted to Student Success

Milagros "Milly" Blanco is a dedicated educator, literacy advocate, and community leader with 27 years of experience in education. She currently serves as a Media Specialist with the Martin County School District, where she leads literacy and technology initiatives, supports teachers, and creates innovative programs that encourage students to develop a lifelong love of reading.

Throughout her career, she has designed and implemented schoolwide reading programs using Accelerated Reader, helping thousands of students set goals, track their progress, and celebrate academic growth.

A recognized leader in library program development, Milly has successfully opened and built three media centers and library programs from the ground up — shaping learning spaces, establishing operational systems, and creating literacy environments that support student achievement, teacher collaboration, and schoolwide instructional goals.

A Career Across Florida's Schools

Before joining the Martin County school system, Milly served in leadership roles as a media specialist and educator in both the Palm Beach County School District and Broward County Public Schools — two of Florida's largest and most diverse school systems. She has worked closely with teachers, administrators, and district leaders to strengthen literacy programs, integrate technology into classrooms, and transform school media centers into vibrant hubs of learning and collaboration.

In addition to her work in schools, Milly collaborates with publishers and authors on curriculum development for children's books, helping create educational guides and literacy resources used by teachers, parents and students. She also contributes to book translation and publishing projects, translating children's literature from English to Spanish to ensure broader access for bilingual readers.

Her work in publishing extends to professional audiobook narration and voiceover recordings for eBooks, bringing stories to life for young audiences.

Beyond education, Milly has built a successful career in real estate, serving families across South Florida for more than a decade. As a licensed Florida real estate professional, she helps buyers and sellers navigate the housing market while building long-term relationships through trust, communication, and community knowledge.

Our Platform

Six pillars for stronger schools, stronger students, and a stronger Martin County.

1

Respect for Teachers

Elevating the Teaching Profession

Strong schools begin with strong teachers. We must ensure our educators receive the competitive compensation, classroom resources, and administrative support they deserve to inspire the next generation. After 27 years in the classroom and library, Milly understands firsthand that when teachers feel respected and supported, students thrive.

  • Advocating for competitive salaries and fair compensation
  • Ensuring access to high-quality instructional materials and technology
  • Providing meaningful professional development
  • Promoting supportive and accountable leadership
  • Restoring respect for educators in our community

When we invest in teachers, we invest in students. And when students succeed, our entire community prospers.

2

Leadership Integrity

Restoring Common-Sense Leadership

Our schools should not be driven by political agendas — they should be guided by what works for students. Milly is committed to restoring respectful, non-partisan leadership to the School Board, grounded in data, policy, and measurable performance — not division.

  • Focus on student outcomes, not political headlines
  • Make decisions based on facts, transparency, and accountability
  • Listen to educators, parents, and community stakeholders
  • Maintain fiscal responsibility and ethical governance
  • Put long-term educational excellence above short-term politics

Public education belongs to the community — not to political parties.

3

Academic Excellence

Strengthening Academic Excellence & Career Readiness

Every student deserves a clear path to success — whether that leads to college, technical certification, or a high-demand career within our community. We must prioritize strong core academic standards while expanding meaningful vocational and career training opportunities.

  • Maintaining rigorous core academic standards in literacy, math, science, and civics
  • Expanding career and technical education (CTE) programs
  • Strengthening partnerships with local businesses and workforce leaders
  • Providing dual enrollment and certification opportunities
  • Ensuring students graduate with real-world skills and options

Success looks different for every student — and our schools must be prepared to support every pathway.

4

Fiscal Responsibility

Responsible Stewardship of Taxpayer Dollars

Every dollar invested in our schools should directly benefit students and classrooms. Our community works hard for its tax dollars. As a School Board member, Milly will ensure those resources are spent efficiently, transparently, and with measurable impact on student success.

  • Prioritizing funding for direct classroom instruction and student services
  • Maintaining modern, safe, and well-equipped school facilities
  • Ensuring transparent budgeting and clear public reporting
  • Eliminating wasteful spending and unnecessary bureaucracy
  • Planning long-term to protect both educational quality and taxpayer trust

Strong financial stewardship builds strong schools — and strong schools build strong communities.

5

Family & Student First

Empowering Parents as Partners

Parents are a child's first and most important teachers. Our schools must honor and strengthen that partnership through transparency, safety, and mutual respect.

  • Clear and transparent communication about curriculum and policies
  • Safe learning environments where every student feels protected
  • Respectful collaboration between families, teachers, and administrators
  • Opportunities for meaningful parent involvement
  • Accountability in decision-making at the district level

When parents are empowered and educators are respected, students thrive.

6

Safe & Healthy Schools

Safe Schools & Student Well-Being

Students cannot learn if they do not feel safe — physically or emotionally. Milly is committed to ensuring our schools have the necessary safety infrastructure and emotional wellness resources to create a secure, supportive, and nurturing environment where every student can thrive.

  • Maintaining strong school safety measures and updated security systems
  • Supporting trained school resource officers and safety protocols
  • Expanding access to school counselors and mental health services
  • Promoting positive school culture and anti-bullying initiatives
  • Providing educators with tools to support students' social-emotional growth

Safety is not just about hardware — it's about heart. When students feel secure and supported, they can fully focus on learning and reaching their potential.

Together, we can help students become lifelong learners and productive citizens who contribute positively to our community.
